Swedish Phytogeographical Society

Welcome to the Swedish Phytogeographical Society

The Swedish Phytogeographical Society (Societas Phytogeographica Suecana) promotes and disseminates research and outreach activities in plant ecology and plant geography.  Through the funding of scholarships, the publication and dissemination of scientific books and articles (including a monograph series, Acta Phytogeographica Suecica), and the organization of seminars and excursions, the Society actively stimulates research in plant geography and plant ecology within and outside Sweden.

The society was founded in 1923 as the Swedish Plant Sociological Society but was reconstructed under its present name in 1926. From the beginning its base has been at the Department of Ecological Botany at Uppsala University, but the society welcomes members from all over Sweden and internationally.

The Society includes members from all over the world and everyone is welcome to join.

The membership is free; being a member has several advantages

- You can receive scholarships to fund your research in Botany or Anthropology

- You can take part in our botanical excursions at a reduced price

- You will be always updated about our activities
